The Skid Steer You Actually Want Here Runs on Tracks
Quick honesty about names: most people searching for a skid steer rental mean "that compact loader with a bucket," and that's exactly what this is. Ours rides on rubber tracks instead of wheels, which the industry calls a compact track loader. On North County properties the difference matters: tracks put down 5.6 psi (less than a person walking), so they grip hillsides, float over loose decomposed granite, and leave lawns alive. Wheeled machines concentrate 30+ psi on four small patches and dig ruts the moment they spin.

Skid Steer Rental FAQs
Is this an actual skid steer or a track loader?
Both names get used for the same shape of machine. Technically a skid steer rides on wheels and a compact track loader rides on rubber tracks, but around here everyone calls them all skid steers. Ours is the tracked version, a Kubota SVL75-2, which is what you want on San Diego dirt: tracks grip slopes and loose decomposed granite, and at 5.6 psi they won't trench your lawn the way spinning tires do.
Do you rent wheeled skid steers?
No, tracks only, and that's deliberate. On the residential properties we serve, wheels lose traction on slopes, dig holes in loose soil, and rut lawns. The only jobs where wheels beat tracks are all-day work on flat concrete or asphalt. If that's your whole project, a national chain can set you up; for everything that touches dirt, tracks win.
How much does a skid steer rental cost in North County San Diego?
Ours is $350 per day or $1,050 per week with a bucket included, and delivery and pickup are free. Marketplace listings around Escondido average $386 to $513 per day before fees, and most companies add $400 to $600 for delivery plus a damage waiver near 15%. Our quoted price is the out-the-door price; the damage waiver is included.
Do I need experience to operate it?
No. Most of our renters are homeowners on their first machine. We deliver it, walk you through the controls and safety systems, and share tips for your specific job. The joystick controls take about 20 minutes to get comfortable with, and you don't need any license to operate on your own property.
What attachments can I add?
A 72 inch brush cutter ($200/day) that handles trees up to 4 inches, a hydraulic breaker ($150/day) for concrete and rock, pallet forks ($100/day) rated to 4,000 lbs, and smooth or toothed buckets. One bucket is always included free with the machine.
